Mussels are mostly cooked as appetizers. And they are very flexible. You can steam them, bake them but I think that crispy fried mussels are the perfect appetizer.
You need some dinner ideas, are you looking for a simple and always tasty appetizer recipe I believe this one will stay in your list.

INGREDIENTS:

500 to 1000 gr. mussels, cleaned and washed well

seafood batter:

ingredients listed below are enough for 1 kg. mussels, or shrimps or any other seafood

3 eggs, whole, slightly beaten

1/2 cup milk

1/2 cup. beer

3 tablespoons mustard

1 teaspoon salt ( if you have marinated your seafood in salt do not add this)

pepper

3 cups cornflour

1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)

In a bigger bowl, add the eggs and mix them with the milk, beer, half teaspoon of the salt and pepper. Add the mussels, stir well, make sure that all mussels are covered with the mix. Cover and place the bowl in the refrigerator for an hour.

In a deep dish mix corn flour with half teaspoon of salt, pepper and cayenne pepper. Mix well. Take mussels from the bowl with the beer and egg mix, place them in the flour mix and turn them on all sides until they are well coated.

Fry in a hot oil.

Place mussels on a plate covered with kitchen paper to absorb the excess oil. Sprinkle some fresh chopped dill before serving.
Serve with yogurt sauce for fish or plain yogurt as a dip.
