Shells belong to the short and hollow pasta type that is perfect for simple and plain tomato sauce recipes. The tomato sauce presented in this recipe is quick and easy to make. You can use it as a base for many tomato sauces, just add vegetables of your desire in it.

It can also be used as a base for a homemade pizza. Simmer ground meat and pasta in it and make tasty meals using your imagiation.

INGREDIENTS:

400gr. ( 0.90 pounds ) canned plum tomatoes, whole or chopped.

1 teaspoon sugar

1 teaspoon salt

1 onion

1/2 tablespoon sweet red paprika

5 tablespoons olive oil

1 small carrot peeled

2 tablespoon fresh basil leaves

Preparation:

Chop the onion and the carrot and put them in the food processor, add sugar, salt and paprika and process it.

Put the tomato sauce in a small sauce pan add the basil leaves and olive oil cover the pan and simmer on low heat for half an hour.

Cook pasta as recomented from the manufacturer.

Serve pasta with the tomato sauce and grated yellow cheese on top. Basil leaves and olives for decoration.
